1/48 Scale Akula Subs
"There are two kinds of boats.....Submarines.....and targets"
Click here to add your text.
The Akula Attack/Hunter class is Russia's (formally Soviet Union) most advanced nuclear submarine. It uses the latest in hydro-dynamic engineering and builds on and replaces the concepts from it's predessor the Victor 3 class subs. Between 5-9 knots they are undetectable, as proved in the mid 90's when the U.S. navy lost track of an Akula crusing off the South East Atlantic coastline. Nato Intelligence reports the sub is able to dive 1/4 to 1/2 mile below the Surface.

With the upgrade to the Aukula II the subs are now quieter than most variants of the improved LA class subs and only the Seawolf is reported to be more stealth. The Akula is Russia's front line defense against enemy submarines and surface fleets. When ever U.S. carriers are on the move chances are there is a Akula stalking them. With eight forward torpedo tubes and four rear they can unleash a devastating salvo against surface fleets including SS-N-21 nuclear tipped torpedo lanuched cruise missils. NATO goes to great lengths to track all Akula's around the clock because of their dangerous potential should a conflict arise.

1/48 Scale R/C Akula Subs

90" Long
10" Wide

The 1/48 scale Akulas come as a top and bottom fiberglass and cloth hull with the tower molded into the top half.  The rear rudders, front dive plan and the rear pod are made of polyuthane. With the hull thickness of 50 mil, the subs can take a lot of punishment. There is.......well, PLENTY of room to say the least for R/C equipment on the inside, for any kind of diving set up or surface runner.
